PreliminaryAssessment

The preliminary assessment is carried out by a private certifier. The certifier reviews the proposed Building Application plans to determine whether they are eligible for a Building Permit.

Following the review, a report will be provided outlining the requirements needed to obtain the Building Permit.

You will also receive a quotation detailing the cost to secure the Building Permit.

Engineering Plans

The next stage involves obtaining a complete set of engineering plans. Belinda can liaise with your nominated engineer, or alternatively, you may choose to engage her preferred engineering consultant to prepare the required documentation.

Energy Assessment Report

The new 7-Star Energy Efficiency standard now requires an Energy Efficiency Report as part of the Building Permit application process.

Belinda can arrange for the report to be prepared on you behalf, or alternatively, she can coordinate directly with your nominated Energy Assessor.

Other documentation required

Due to the zoning of your property, additional reports may be required. These may include, for example:

  • Flood Report and/or Hydraulic Engineering Plans
  • Bushfire Assessment Report
  • Environmental Assessment Report

Belinda will advise you of any additional requirements once the Preliminary Report has been completed.

Certification by Private Certifier

Once Belinda has gathered all the required documentation for the Building Permit application, she will submit the full package to the private certifier for assessment.

If the project requires council approval, the private certifier will act on behalf of the client in liaising with council and seeking the necessary approvals.

Once the project is approved, the certifier will issue the building permit. The Building Permit allows a period of two years to complete the proposed works.
